Robert A. Givens, age 68 of Harpers Ferry, died Saturday, October 19, 2002, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn., following a lengthy illness. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2002, at the First Baptist Church in Oelwein. A private burial service will held at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein.
Robert A. Givens was born December 15, 1933, in Maynard. On December 15, 1956, he was united in marriage to Beverly Ives at the Presbyterian Church in Hazelton. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.Survivors include his wife, Beverly of Harpers Ferry, and a brother, Harold "Bo" (Janet) Givens of Oelwein. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Alex, and Victor; two sisters, Bernice Larson and Lila Mae (infant); and his parents. A memorial fund has been established
