Rites Held For Wm. J. Kuhse

William John Kuhse, the son of Albert Kuhse and Minnie Zell Kuhse, was born at Guttenberg, on May 11, 1888, and confirmed in St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville on April 5, 1903. He died at the LaCrosse Lutheran Hospital on October 18, 1965, at the age of 77 years, five months, and seven days, following a lingering illness.

He was married to Elta Saueresig on November 25, 1915. To this union were born two daughters. During their married life, the couple farmed in the Ossian, Froelich, Monona and Postville areas, and have lived on a farm northwest of Postville for the past 12 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five sisters, Mrs. Freda Mecklenberg of Lime Springs, Mrs. Bertha Brandt, Mrs. Minnie Meyer and Mrs. Gusta Baries of Postville, and Mrs. Annie Hoffman of Orient, South Dakota.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Elnora, Mrs. Frederick Overbeck of Saratoga, California, and Iva Jean, Mrs. Robert Coobs of West Burlington; two brothers, Fred, of Postville, who is living at the Aase Haugen home near Decorah, and Rudy, of Farmersburg, who is living at the Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point; five grandchildren; one great grandchild and many other relatives and friends.

He has been an active member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville for many years.

Funeral services were held Friday, October 22, 1:30 p.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church with burial in Postville Cemetery.
