Harold B. Turner

Funeral services for Harold B. Turner were held Friday, April 2, 1982 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. The Reverend Julius L. Peterson and the Reverend David R. Nelson officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Harold B. Turner, son of Harry N. and Mae (Mill) Turner, was born March 30, 1907 near Luana, Iowa. He died March 31, 1982 at Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital, Decorah, Iowa.

He graduated from Postville high School and was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville on August 12, 1928 he was married to Ruby W. Martens. To this union four children were born.

He served as assessor and farmed in Grand Meadow Township. They moved to Winneshiek County where they farmed and he was associated with Dairy Herd Improvement and did official testing. He served as a director of the Oak Hill School District. In 1954 they retired from farming and moved to Fort Collins, Colorado where he was a building contractor for 23 years. He was associated with the Rainbow Girls for seven years, three of which her served as a Rainbow Dad and was awarded the Grand Cross of Colors. Upon retiring from the contracting business they returned to Postville.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ruth.

Surviving are his wife, Ruby, a son, Milton of Postville, three daughters: Mrs. Elden (Bea) Lenth of Postville, Mrs. Gene (Mary) Rush of Los Alamos, NM, Mrs. Gary (Janice) Maxwell of Bakersfield, CA; 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, two brothers: Boyd and Dale and two sisters: Joyce Kerr and Mrs. Ewald (Lois) Brandt, all of Postville.
