Mary C. McCauley

Mary C. McCauley, age 91, of Cedar Rapids died Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 2 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Waukon, with Fr. Joseph Schneider officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's, Lycurgus Cemetery. Hanson Funeral Home of Waukon assisted the family.

Mary was born January 16, 1916 near Lycurgus to Peter and Mary (McCroden) Sweeney. She graduate high school, and June 10, 1936 she married Daniel P. McCauley at St. Mary's, Lycurgus. They lived on the McCauley farm, and in Waukon and Cedar Rapids, where Mary was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

Survivors include her children, Ann Larson of Manchester, Pat McCauley of rural Waukon, Joan Hein of Rock Island, IL, Jim McCauley of Oxnard, CA, and Mary L. McCauley of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Gertrude Steele, Frances Deter and Clem Sweeney.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Mary Sweeney; her husband, Daniel P. McCauley; her sister, Dorothy Sweeney; and a grandson, Greg Larson.

Casketbearers were Jim Ward, Cletus Rooney, Bernard Welsh, Joe Sweeney, Ralph Welch and Gary Ward.
