1925- SERVICES FOR ROBERT MCNALLY-1998

Funeral services for Robert McNally were held Tuesday,August 25, 1998 at 11:00 A.M. in the Marion Lutheran Church at Gunder,Iowa.The Rev. Marshall Hahn officiated. the organist was Corrine Landsgard. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements.Burial was n the church cemetery at Gunder. Honorary casket bearers were Delbert Martins,Tilman Thompson,,Jerry Sommers, Lorraine Lenth, Duane C. Walter,Ver Dean Radloff,Harley Radloff Jr. and Dwayne Moon.Casket bearers were Aaron Blatti,Bruce Blatti,Dean Monroe, Roger Monroe, Lee Preuss, Mike Searls and Matt Rude.

Robert Lewis McNally, the fourth of eleven children born to Lewis Jerome and Clara Rosina(Mork)McNally was born December 22, 1925 on the family farm in Grand Meadow Township,Clayton County, south of Luana,Iowa. He passed away at the same farm home near Luana early Saturday morning,August 22,1998, after a long battle with heart disease. He reached the age of 72 years and eight months. He was baptized on March 2,1940 at the Marion Lutheran Church. Robert attended high school through the tenth Grade. On January 16,1951, he was married to Wanda J.Preuss at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. To this union six children were born.

Robert farmed and sold Darling Fertilizer in his early adult years.Later, he was a cattle order buyer-this was the career he enjoyed the most,but had to stop because of how it affected his health.He was also a seed corn representative for Garst(ICI) Seeds, and sold Archer Petroleum products.After retiring, he pursued his interests of genealogy and history, poetry,photography,fishing and music.

Robert was a member of the Marion Lutheran Church where he had served on the church council and as church president and treasurer. Showing the strength of his convictions, he was member of the Board of Education of the Postville Community Schools;Gunder Community Club;Marion and Eno Cemetery Boards, and was very involved in writing the history of the Gunder area.

He is preceded in death by his parents: a son Rand Lee McNally,a brother,Wayne Richard McNally; and four brother-in-laws,Alindo Blatti,Dr. Jim Cochrane, Richard Searles and Paul Smith.

Surviving are his wife,Wanda:five children,Lu Ann McNally Symes and husband,William C, of Overland,Kansas,Rhonda Sue D Camp and husband Douglas, of Buffalo, Mn.,Dawn Beth McNally Harris and husband Cameron of Edgerton,Mo., Teresa Jo Paulson and husband Dr. Thomas Paulson,West Des Moines and Patrick Robert McNally and wife,Susan(Jahnke)of Luana,Ia.: ten grandchildren,Scott and Jarod D Camp,Daniel and Michael Symes, Cassandra and Chenoa Harris,Rachel,Laura and Hilary Paulson and Gabrielle McNally; brothers and sisters, Mary Blatti of New Hampton,Iowa,Lucy Cochrane of Ankeny,Ia.,Dolores Varty and husband, Hugh of Clear Lake,Ia,Shirley Nylund and husband,Don of St. Cloud,MN.,Virginia Rude and her husband,Robert of Onalaska,Wi.,Betty Searls of Ames,Ia.,Patricia Smith of Elgin,Ia.,Ronald(Mike)McNally and his wife,Sara of Springfield,Va. and Sandra Cutler and husband,John of Ankeny,Ia; numerous nieces and nephews, and many other relatives, friends and neighbors.He loved his family with his whole heart and especially enjoyed his grand children. He was so proud of them and had a special relationship with each of them, in return, they loved their grandpa.
