Agnes Seitz

Agnes Marie Seitz, age 78, of Lansing died Saturday morning, May 5, 2007 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 8 at United Methodist Church in Lansing, with Rev Keith Putney officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lansing.

Agnes was born in Village Creek, rural Lansing March 3, 1929 to John and Bertha (Cole) Hill. She graduated from Lansing High School in 1946, attended Normal School Training in Dubuque and taught in a Rural School.

She married John Seitz August 14, 1948. They farmed in the Rossville area and in 1959 moved to Lafayette Township to farm there. She loved music and played guitar at family gatherings and entertained at Thornton Manor. Her family was very important to her.

Survivors include three children, Jerry (Mickey) Seitz of Lansing, Nancy (Fred) Rethwisch of Lansing, and Michelle (Don) Dee of Waukon; a daughter-in-law, Diane Seitz (and friend Ed Renner) of Lansing; 10 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; four siblings, Grace Bechtel of Lansing, Eddie Hill of Cedar Rapids, Sam (Charlotte) Hill of Harpers Ferry, and Mary (Don) Moritz of Maquoketa; and a sister-in-law, Oretta Hill of Waukon.

Agnes was preceded in death by her husband John September 3, 1998; a son Roger in 1984; four brothers Walter, Johnny, Floyd, and Melvin Hill; and a sister, Betty Ronan.

Casketbearers are Lyle Hanson, Dan Mauss, Ted Haerer, Jim Ronan, Anthony Diersen and Bill Ferring. Honorary casketbearers are 'The Deer Hunters'.
