John Gerhard Hagen of Union City township passed away at St. Francis hospital, La Crosse, Wisconsin, January 26, 1944, after an illness of three months.

Deceased was born September 18, 1868, in Germany, and on May 2, 1891, came to America. One February 28, 1901, he was united in marriage to Lena Welper, establishing their home in Union City township.

Survivors are his wife; three children, Mrs. George (Frances) Toedter, Mrs. William (Veronica) Scheele and John Hagen, all of this vicinity; one sister in Germany; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at St. Peter's Evangelical and Reformed church in New Albin, the Rev. P.H. Franzmeier officiating. Burial was in the New Albin cemetery.
