Estimated printed pages: 2Delmar L. Decker, 54, of 1120 Maple Crest Dr., formerly of Cedar Rapids and Waukon, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 1996, in his home following a sudden illness. Services: 1 p.m. Friday, Eden United Church of Christ. Dr. Glenn Hunt will officiate. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 tonight at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home, Cedar Rapids, and after noon Friday at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Janet; two sons, Ronald and wife Julie of Davenport and Richard and wife Denise of St. Cloud, Minn.; two daughters, Jean Brink and husband Darryl of Clarksville, Tenn., and Cynthia Decker and fiance David Smith of Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Bill of Prairie du Chien, Wis., and Dean of Waukon; a sister, Delpha Moser of Colesburg; and seven grandchildren, Tanya Brink, Christopher Brink, Joshua Brink, Kristin Decker, Garrett Decker, Derek Joyner and Cody Decker.He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Merwyn; two sisters, Marilyn Sickels and Jessie Troester; and a grandson, Jason Joyner.
Delmar was born Dec. 20, 1941, in Postville, to Elmer and Hazel Decker. He married Janet Rolfs on Sept. 10, 1963, in Waukon. He was a truck driver before becoming disabled, a member of Eden United Church of Christ and a Navy veteran.
Instead of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
