Gladys Lavina Sires, age 84, New Albin, Iowa, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2000, at Thorton Manor Care Center in Lansing, Iowa. .
Gladys was born October 24, 1915, to Henry and Ella (Myers) Zarwell in Houston County, Minnesota. She married Raymond "Tat" Sires on June 24, 1940, in Waverly, Iowa.
She is survived by her husband, Tat; three sons, Joel (Sharon) Sires of New Albin; Lynn Sires of Houston, Minnesota; and Jan (Mary) Sires of Boulder, Colorado; one daughter, Jane (Tom) Young of Dresbach, Minnesota; four grandchildren; and one brother, Herbert Zarwell of New Albin.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Floyd Zarwell.
Services were held Saturday, April 22, 2000, at the United Methodist Church in New Albin. Rev. Tom Mattson officiated. Interment was in the New Albin City Cemetery.
Casketbearers were Joel Sires, Lynn Sires, Jan Sires, Joel Sires, Jr., Steven Sires, and Tom Young.
Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
