Eleen Woodmansee

Eleen "Tilly" Woodmansee, 79, of Waukon, died Sat. May 5, 2001, at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon following a brief illness.

Memorial services will be held Thurs., May 10, 10 a.m., at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon with Rev. Richard N. Eick officiating. Burial of ashes will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Rossville. There will be no visitation.

Eleen "Tilly" Virginia Dunmire Woodmansee was born Sept. 4, 1921, in Altoona, PA. Her parents were Herschel Rudolph and Ella Jane (McClarren) Dunmire. After graduating from Altoona High School, she worked for Civil Service in Washington, D.C.

On May 28, 1949, she married Dale Palmer Woodmansee in Fairfax, VA. The couple lived in Japan from 1951- 53 and England from 1966 - 69 before returning to Maryland. In 1973, they moved to Waukon, where she has lived ever since.

Tilly was a board member of the Waukon Burying Ground Association and a member of the Veterans Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She also worked with the Allamakee County Election Board. She enjoyed golf, bowling, and working crossword puzzles. Tilly also had a keen interest in genealogy, and, along with her husband Dale, compiled detailed information on all the cemeteries in Allamakee County.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale; a son, David; a sister, Bernice Cupp; and a brother, Bill Dunmire. Survivors include a daughter, Kay Woodmansee of Lehigh Acres, FL; a son, Dennis Kasten, Bradenton, FL; and two sisters, Dorothy Peoples of Altoona, PA, and Betty Anderson of Venice, Fl.

Memorials may be given to Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. The family is being assisted by Martin Funeral Home of Waukon.
