Charles J. Weihe, the son of Henry Weihe and his wife, Magdalene Jacobs, was born in Clayton county, Iowa on January 1, 1870. He was confirmed in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Postville on March 29, 1885. He died at the Community Memorial Hospital on August 29, 1961 at the age of 91 years, eight months and 28 days.

He lived his entire life in the area, earning his living as a farmer, until he retired and moved to town in 1922.

He was married to Elizabeth Schutte on October 2, 1932.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; four sisters, Sophie, Mrs. Rudy Stoehr of Cedar Rapids, Lucy Weihe of Postville, Elizabeth, Mrs. Louis Schutte of Postville, and Emma Weihe, who died as a young girl; four brothers, Will, John, George and Elmer of Postville.

He is survived by one sister, Celia, Mrs. Frank Schepple of Dubuque, a number of nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted on August 31, at 2:00 at the Schutte Funeral home with the Rev. Charles E. Witt officiating, and assisted by the Rev. LeRoy Weihe of Naschua, Illinois. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.
