Anna Wilke

Funeral services for Mrs. Wilbert Wilke were held Tuesday, Nov. 20, 11 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. The Rev. Julius Peterson officiated. Special music was provided by Rev. Lynn Groe, Waukon, accompanied by Mrs. Bernald Martins, organist. Schutte Funeral Service, Postville, was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the Postville Cemetery.

Anna Friederike Wilhelmine (Miller) Wilke, daughter of Carl and Louise (Michael) Miller, was born Feb. 10, 1896 in Postville. She died Saturday night, Nov. 17, 1990 in Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon.

She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. She attended the Woodland School north of Postville.

On Dec. 29, 1917 she married Wilbert F. Wilke in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. The couple had one daughter, Geneva. They farmed north of Postville until Dec., 1935, when they moved to Postville. For the past 11 years she had lived with her daughter in Waukon.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wilbert, who died Dec. 14, 1978, 4 brothers, Henry, August, Louis and William Miller and 4 sisters, Augusta (Mrs. Howard Wykoff), Amanda (Mrs. Clarence Smith), Bertha (Mrs. John Gregg) and Edith (Mrs. Frank Bellows).

Surviving are her daughters, Geneva of Waukon, a grandson, Donald Rice, Moorehead, MN, a great-granddaughter, Anna Kathleen Rice and a sister-in-law, Mabel Meyer of Postville.

She was a life-long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville.

Casket bearers: Charles Bahr, Edwin McKee, Stanley Bahr, James Overland, David Miller and Bill Smith.
