Howard Wykoff
Howard Wykoff, the son of Alfred Wykoff and Mary Stoner Wykoff, was born May 31, 1890 in Des Moines. He was baptized and confirmed in the Episcopal Church in Des Moines, and attended the public schools in Des Moines. He died suddenly at his home in Waterloo on February 26, 1962 at the age of 71 years, eight months and 26 days.
He was married to Augusta Miller at Independence, on August 3, 1915. They lived in Sioux City for four years and in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for 31 years. He worked as a traveling passenger agent for the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railroad for 38 years, and retired to Waterloo in June, 1955.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John of Shenandoah and Roy of Portland Oregon.
He is survived by his wife; two brothers, Ralph of Redwood, California, and Wallace of Panora Island, Washington; two sisters, Beulah Persela and Dorothy Taylor of Portland, Oregon; and many other relatives and friends.
He was a member of the Waterloo Blue Lodge of the Masonic Order.
Funeral services were conducted at the Schutte Funeral Home on March 1, at 1:30 p.m. by the Rev. Charles E. Witt, pastor of the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Burial was in Postville cemetery.
