WILLIAM A. MCGOWAN

The death of Wm. A. McGowan, a fisherman residing at Waukon Junction occured Friday, following an extended illness. Deceased was a native of New York state, where he was born October 23,1850, and was 92 years of age.

On May 1, 1876, he was wedded to Miss Hester Ann Biccum at Montreal Canada. Fifty years ago the family moved to Waukon Junction which had since been his home. Three children were born to this union, one of whom, Mrs. Cora Worth of Waukon Junction, preceded her father in death. His wife and two children survive, namely: Wm. McGowan of Marquette, Iowa and Mrs. Ada Shannon of Le Claire, Iowa.

Funeral services were held at the McGowan home Sunday, conducted by Rev. Singer of the Methodist church of Waukon. Burial was in the Spaulding cemetery in Fairview township.

Note: Wm. McGowan of Marquette, Iowa and Mrs. Ada Shannon of Le Claire, Iowa were adopted by the McGowans. They were born "Fullers"
