Leo E. Wickham

Leo Earl Wickham, son of Frank and Jennie (Nims) Wickham was born near Hawkeye, Iowa on November 21, 1920 and passed away April 3, 1965 at the Veterans' Hospital in Iowa City after a long illness.

He was united in marriage to Ruby Knuppe on March 30, 1943. To this union were born three daughters, Marylin, Shirley and June, and one son, Jerry.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby; three daughters and son; his mother, Mrs. Jennie Wickham of Waucoma; two brothers, Fay of Postville and Billie of Alpha; two sisters, Mrs. Eben (Ruby) Pierce of Waucoma, and Mrs. Florence Leibold of Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by his father; a sister, Edna; and two brothers, Clarence and Clifford.

He served three years and three months in the U. S. Army, serving overseas one year and three months, receiving one Service Strip, two overseas Service Bars, American Campaign Medal, European-African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with Bronze Battle Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and World War II Victory Medal.

Funeral Services were April 6 at 1:30 p.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville. Rev. Lester Lease, Pastor of the Gospel Message Church and Radio Ministry, officiated. Burial at the Minert Cemetery near Postville.
