Waukon Woman Taken by Death
Paralytic Stroke is Fatal To Mrs. Thomas Hartley On Monday Afternoon
Mrs. Thomas Hartley, well known and respected mother, passed away Monday afternoon at her home in Waukon. She suffered a severe paralytic stroke last Friday morning, while about her household duties, from which she never regained consciousness. She was 64 years of age.
Mrs. Hartley, who was Lillian Friday before her marriage, was born October 16, 1873 at Mineral Point, Wisconsin, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Friday. On May 1, 1894, she was married to Thomas Hartley at Mineral Point, and they made
their home in Milwaukee for a number of years. In 1897 they came to Waukon to reside, Mr. Hartley being engaged in the manufacture of cigars. Four children were born to this union, three daughters and one son.She leaves to mourn her death her husband and four children, Mrs. Thomas V. Darby of Cresco, Myron of Wilmington, California, Mrs. Ardys Brown and Mrs. Frank Wood of Waukon.
One sister also survives, Mrs. Arthur Steward of Oakland, California.
At the time of going to press funeral arrangement had not been completed, awaiting the arrival of her son, Myron.
