McGREGOR Gilbert "Butch" Peterson,89, died Sunday, July 31, 1994, in Great River Care Center after a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, First Lutheran Church-Swede Ridge, rural McGregor, by the Rev. Ellen Taube. Burial: church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Thornburg Funeral Home and after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Survivors include his wife, Anne; a son, William and wife Dorothy of Garnavillo; four daughters, LaVonne Klotzbach of McGregor, Mildred Gaulke of Cedar Rapids, Edith and husband Marvin Nading of Elkader and Jean and husband Kenneth Kennedy of East Dubuque, Ill.; a sister, Olive and husband Jim Wallace of Estero, Fla.; 18 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Born Aug. 21, 1904, in Allamakee County, to Peter and Eliza Engan Peterson, he married Rebecca Magnusson on Dec. 30, 1924. He later married Anne Whalen on June 2, 1950, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. He farmed most of his life in the McGregor area.

The family requests no flowers.
