Joseph Glenn "Joe" Sires, Sr. 1869 - 1926

SIRES, LEFFINGWELL, SPIEGLER, DUFF, WRIGHT

Joseph Sires, aged 57 years, beloved husband of Mrs. Blanche Sires, passed away at his home in Bellingham, Friday evening, November 12, 1926, after an illness of about six weeks' duration.

Mr. Sires had been a resident of Bellingham for the past year, and was a member of the Mount Hope Presbyterian Church in Iowa.

Surviving besides the widow are three sons, Melvin Sires, Glen Sires (Joseph Glenn Sires, Jr.) and Myron Sires, all of Bellingham; two daughters, Mrs. Minnie Leffingwell of Bellingham; and Mrs. Pearl Leffingwell of Milk River, Alberta, Canada; eight brothers, William Sires of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Thomas Sires of Dorchester; John Sires of Bellingham; Levi Sires of Churchtown; Francis Sires of Walla Walla, Washington; James Sires of New Albin; and Roy and Daniel Sires of Dorchester; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Spiegler of Dorchester; and two grandchildren.

The body is resting at the Homer Mark Mortuary, where the funeral services will be held Monday morning, November 15, at 10 o'clock, with the Rev. Charles MacCaughey of the Garden Street Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be made in the family plot in Woodlawn cemetery.

Joseph was born 21 August 1869 in Waukon to John and Sarah Jane (Duff) Sires. He was married to Ina Blanche Wright in 1895.
