SHERMAN E. LAWSON 1888-1976

Services Held For Sherman Lawson

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 8 at the Schutte Funeral Home for Sherman E. Lawson, who died Monday, December 6 at the Good Samaritan Center, Postville. The Rev. Dick Harberts and Rev. Curtis Webster officiated.

Born June 17, 1888, in Franklin Township, Allamakee county, he was the son of William and Bertha (Roffman) Lawson. He spent his early life there and received his education in rural schools of the vicinity.

He was married to Gusta [Augusta Irene] Hammel March 26, 1914 at the home of the bride. The couple farmed for some years south of Postville, moving into town in 1940, where he worked as a carpenter.

Mr. Lawson was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church, and the Odd Fellows Lodge No. 707 of Postville.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a young daughter, Delila; also four brothers, Fred, Elmer, John and Leonard and a sister, Mrs. Fred (Zelma) Segrist.

Surviving are his wife and a daughter, Lois at home; a brother Frank of Postville; two sisters, Mrs. Lewis (Alta) Peterson, Waukon and Mrs. Mike (Vera) Weber, Cedar Rapids; many nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Burial was in the Postville cemetery.
