Furneral services are held for Armstrong Hawkins at Rossville church.

Armstrong Hawkins well known farmer of the Rossville vicinity, passed away December 26th at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edna McMillan, where he had gone to spend Christmas, He was 79 years old.

Armstrong Hawkins was born July 11, 1857 in Jackson county, Iowa a son of Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong Hawkins. He was one of a family of 16 children. On July 25, 1877, he married Clarisa Jerman at Maquoketa, Iowa to this union two children were born, Rosa and Elsie. His wife died April 19, 1887, at Cascade and one daughter Rosa, passed away in October 1887 at the age of ten years. On September 24, 1897, he was married to Dora Fish at Elkader. To this union three children were born, two sons and a daughter. His second wife passed away December 1, 1914. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge for 38 years.

He is survived by the following children, Mrs. Elsie Raab of Maquoketa, Mrs. Edna McMillan, Jerry and Sidney of near Rossville. He also leaves to mourn his death 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren, and one sister Miss Cornelia Brown. Funeral services were held Monday, December 28, at the Rossville Presbyterian church. Rev. R. L. Van Nice conducted the services and interment was made in the Rossville cemetery.

Out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were, Mr. and Mrs. Edd Raab, Mr. and Mrs. Wylie Wilson, John Wilson, Lyman Wilson and Miss Clara Poll, all of Maquoketa; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Moles, Mrs. Charles Moles, Mrs. Estella Gilbert, all of Worthington, Minn; Mrs. Cornelia Brown of Marion, and Mr. and Mrs. R. Hughes of Iowa City.
