Clarence Weihe

Funeral services for Clarence Weihe were held Saturday, March 15, 1991 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville. The Rev. Julius L. Peterson officiated, with Mrs. Bernald Martins as organist. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.

Clarence Henry William Weihe, son of John C. and Caroline (Meyer) Weihe, was born May 1, 1899 on the family farm in Grand Meadow Township, Clayton County, Iowa. He passed away Wednesday, March 13, 1991 in the Good Samaritan Center at Postville, Iowa.

He was baptized June 18, 1899 by the Rev. P. E. Bockelmann and confirmed September 5, 1915 by the Rev. E. Schmidt, both at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. Clarence attended the rural school near his home and graduated from Postville High School in 1918. He farmed on the family farm for several years, and soon after the death of his father, he and his mother moved to Postville. Clarence provided dray and trucking services locally and in the surrounding area.

He is preceded in death by a sister, Florence, who died in infancy, two brothers, the Rev. LeRoy Weihe and Orville E. Weihe, a brother-in-law, Cloy Schultz, Sr. and a sister-in-law, Mrs. LeRoy (Lois) Weihe.

Surviving are his sister, Viola Schultz of Postville, a brother, the Rev. Clifton M. Weihe of Santa Maria, CA and nieces and nephews.

Clarence was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He sang in the church choir and taught Sunday School. He had also been a member of the church's youth group, the Young Peoples Society, in his early years, as well as serving as Assessor for Grand Meadow Township.

Casket Bearers: Larry, Stuart, Chris, Randy, Daryl, Blaine, Kent and Craig Schultz and Trystan Lindquist and Aaron Cook.
