Mrs. CHARLES R. (Belle Prescott) WILLIAMS 1870-1951

Belle Prescott Williams

Belle Prescott Williams, daughter of Alva Rowe and Lydia Easton Prescott, early day and long time residents of Postville, was born June 2, 1870 in Postville and passed away June 1, 1951 in Spokane, Washington.

She was the eldest of four children. Her parents, two sisters and one brother preceeded her in death.

She graduated from Postville high school, attended Grinnell college, taught school in Forest City and St. Louis Park, Minnesota. She married Charles R. Williams, July 12, 1895 in Postville.

They lived for a few years in St. Louis Park; then moved to Spokane, Washington in 1903 and made their home in that city until 1925. They then moved to San Jose, California. Mr. Williams died in San Jose, June 2, 1947. Mrs. Williams went to Spokane in 1948 to make her home with her sister-in-law, Mrs. Ralph Prescott.

She was a member of Esther Reed Chapter, Daughters of American Revolution; the Wednesday Club and Esther Chapter of the Westminster Congregational Church.

She is survived by her niece, Mrs. Clifford Anderson of Spokane, two nephews, Robert Prescott of Fullerton, California and Richard Peret of the U. S. Navy Air Force. Funeral services were held in Spokane, Thursday, June 7, Rev. T. C. McQueen of Westminster Congregational Church officiating. Burial was at San Jose, California.
