George Willis

Funeral services for George Willis were held Thursday, Dec. 24, 1981 at 1:30 p.m. at the Schutte Funeral Home in Postville. The Rev. Curtis Webster officiated. Burial was in the Smithfield Cemetery, rural Monona, Iowa.

George R. Willis, son of George and Elizabeth (Bowan) Willis, was born March 21, 1892 in Berthoud, Colo. He passed away Dec. 20, 1981 at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville.

When he was 7 years old he moved from Colorado to Waukon. His parents bought a farm in the Postville area, approximately 40 acres of timber, and built a log house.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Abraham, and four sisters: Margaret Wolauer, Mary Whaley, Elizabeth Ewing and Hannah "Nan" Davis.

Surviving is a son, Staff Sgt. George R. Willis, who is stationed at McClellen AFB, Sacramento, Calif., a daughter-in-law, Terri, and four granddaughters.

George became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center at Postville on May 26, 1970.
