Seward L. Swenson 1881-1965

Funeral services were held Monday March 29 at 1:30pm. in the Pilgrim EUB Church in Monona for Seward L. Swenson. The Rev. Donald Jones and the Rev. Curtis Webster officiated at the services. Burial was in Oakland cemetery at Waukon. Pallbearers were John, Alfred and Fritz Berg, Harvey Debes, David Holroyd and Allen Krousie.
Mr. Swenson was born February 6, 1881 at Postville, Iowa and died March 26 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon where he had been a patient for the past year. He married Lucy M. Gilson Aug. 11, 1903. She preceded him in death on Oct. 17 1959.
Surviving are two sons, Lloyd of Waukon and Harley of Marengo, and four daughters: Mrs. Chet (Ethel) Barr of Waukon, Mrs. Leonard (Mabel) Pearson, Monona Mrs. Roy (Pearl) Honn, Luana and Mrs. Herbert (Grace) Hayes of Yale. Twenty one grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren also survive.
A daughter, Mrs. Julius (Mildred) Johnson of Luana, and a sister Mrs. Julius (Julia) Krousie, and three brothers, Elmer, Robert, and Gilbert, also preceded him in death. Mr. Swenson was a member of the Pilgrim EUB Church in Monona and spent most of his life as a farmer in Allamakee County. He retired in 1955 to Monona where he lived until he became ill. Seward L. Swenson was the son of Anton Swenson and Anna (Halverson) Swenson.
