Garland James Burroughs, 81, of rural Lansing died Sun­day, March 21, 1993, at Vete­rans Memorial Hospital, Wau­kon.

He was born March 25, 1911, in Dorchester, lA, to Da­vid and Mary (Moeller) Bur­roughs.

He married Elizabeth Becker, November 3, 1937, at Immaculate Conception Catho­lic Church in Lansing.

Garland farmed and also worked as a maintenance operator for the County Highway Department.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth of Lansing, three sons, Gale, Waukon; Eugene, Lansing; and Ray, Waukon; one daughter, Connie Eide, La Crosse; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; three broth­ers, Jerome, Menominee, WI; Delbert, Bloomington, IL; and Roland, Waukon; and three sis­ters, Florence Radloff, East Du­buque, IL; Della Just, Clarkfield, MN; and Anna Mae Wal­ters, Houston, MN.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were held March 24 at Immaculate Con­ception Catholic Church, Lans­ing, with burial in Gethsemane Cemetery. Fr. Herbert Tegeler officiated.

Pallbearers were Kenneth Becker, Darryl Becker, David Becker, Ed Helgeson, Dick Helgeson, and Jim Burroughs.

Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home, Lansing, was in charge of arrangements.
