Paul Henry Meyer, 90, of New Albin, died Wednesday, June 6, 1990 at the Good Samaritan Nursing home in Waukon.
He was born April 6, 1900 in New Albin to Frederick and Maria (Timmerman) Meyer.
On March 27, 1924 he married Alma A. Meyer at St. John's Wheatland Church in rural New Albin. She died November 10, 1967.
A lifelong resident of the New Albin area, Paul was a graduate of New Albin High School. He later owned and operated the City Meat Market.
He was a lifelong member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, New Albin and was an active church member. He was also the treasurer of the New Albin Fire Department for 50 years, served on the New Albin City Council, served on the Board of the New Albin Savings Bank for 50 years, and was a member of the New Albin Community Club.
Paul is survived by a son, Glenn of Prairie du Chien, WI; two daughters, Belua Kruse of Eitzen, MN, and Ruth Olson of Decorah; ten grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anna Pohlman of New Albin.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Ora, two sisters and four brothers.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 9, at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, the Rev. Joan Fumetti officiating. Burial was in St. Peter's Memorial Cemetery.
Honorary Pallbearers were: Dennis Meyer, Jeff Creamer, Gwenllyn Zeuner, Lois Meyer, Alan Olson, Joan Creamer, Cynthia Sweet and Alan Meyer.
Casket Bearers were: Robert Meyer, Lawrence Kruse, Kevin Kruse, Terry Meyer, Charles Kruse and Andy Sweet.
