Edna Tabatt, 86, passed away Sunday, November 4, 1990, at her home in New Albin.
She was born in Houston County, Minnesota on October 9, 1904, to Henry and Pauline (Libbie) Wuennecke. The family moved to New Albin where she attended school and graduated from New Albin High. Schoo1. Her father owned and operated a general store and she worked there for many years. Her father died in 1935 and she continued in the store until selling it in 1944. Her mother died in 1957.
On May 31, 1945, she married Alfred Tabatt at Waukon and they continued to make their horne in New Albin where he owned and operated the Tabatt Garage and Repair Shop. He passed away on February 24, 1985.
Edna was a life-long member of St. Peter's U.C.C. Church and was on the New Albin library board from 1951-1989; a director of the New Albin Savings Bank from 1935 until her death; and a volunteer worker at the County Care Facility of Allamakee County for over 18 years.
Survivors include a sister-in-law, Esther Tabatt of St. Louis, MO, nieces, nephews. and cousins.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 8, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's U.C.C. in New Albin. Pastor Nancy Anderson officiated and burial was in the New Albin City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Virgil Welper, Raymond Whalen, Louis Weymiller, Franklin Weymiller, Herbert Zarwell and Ray Mulholland.
Roble Funeral Home, Caledonia, was in charge of arrangements.
