Henry Phillip Zarwell 1909 - 1961

Henry Zarwell, 74, passed away at Lutheran hospital, La Crosse, Thurs­day evening, October 12, 1961. Death was due to a heart attack.

Mr. Zarwell, son of the late Frederick and Catherine Zarwell, was born in Crooked Creek Township, Hous­ton County, Minnesota, February 5, 1887. There he was educated and grew to manhood.

On November 2, 1909, he was united in marriage to Ella Meyers at Grace Methodist Church, New Albin, making their home in Jefferson Township, Houston County, Minnesota until the fall of 1925 when they moved to New Albin, since his home.

Deceased was employed as a section worker for the Milwaukee Railroad here until the time of his retirement as of November 1951.

"Hank", as he was popularly called, was a kind and devoted husband and father, industrious from his youth and a fine neighbor and friend.

He had been ailing with a heart condition for some time, suf­fering his third heart attack on Monday morning and was immediately taken to Lutheran hospital, La Crosse, where he passed away Thursday evening.

He is survived by his wife; two sons and one daughter, Floyd of Eit­zen, Minn.; Herbert and Mrs. Ray­mond Sires of New Albin; two brothers and two sisters, Fred and Susie of New Albin, Bill of St. Paul, Minn. and Mrs. Lavern Helstrom of Minneapolis, Minn. He is also survived by eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

Funeral services were held at St. Peter's Church of Christ, New Albin, Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Emil Burrichter, pastor of the church and Rev. Edmund DeBurh, pastor of St. John's United Church of Christ, Wheatland, officiating. Burial was in the New Albin Cemetery.

Casket bearers were Earl Wohlers, Henry Thimmesch, Carl Vonderohe, August Reinke, Armin Luttchens and Herman Schuldt.

Relatives and friends from away attending the funeral were Mrs. Herbert Cordes and Donald of Brownsville, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Steve Vichlach and Mrs. Leonard Steele of Mon­ona; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Krzbie­tke, Mrs. Ben Welper and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Verdon of Lansing; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hammer and Mrs. Claude Grahl­man of Waukon; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hammer of Hanover, Ill.; William Zarwell of St. Paul, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Bill Lampert and Mrs. Helen Ror­off of La Crosse, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. George Lampert and Mr. and Mrs. Lem­mie Jensen of Caledonia, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Panzer of Winona, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Bob Spiker of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; Mrs. Donald Brumm, Mr. and Mrs. Art Deters, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Haar, Louis Staggemeier, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Meiners, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Det­ers, Mrs. Martha Staggemeier, Mr. and Mrs. Fremont Staggemeier and Ricky, Mr. and Mrs. John Thiele and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Haar of Eitzen, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Bob Darling and Mrs. Ray Kilby of Charles City, Ia.; Harold Jordan of St. Paul, Minn. and Mr. and Mrs. Maynard Sinrud of La Crescent, Minn.
