Beverly Sander

Funeral services for Beverly Sander were held Thursday, January 10, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville, Iowa. The Reverend James Allison officiated. Joan Martins was the organist and special music was provided by soloist, Christine Enyart. The Casket Bearers were James Janett, David Janett, Blaine Schultz, Drew Deering, Trent Wright and Honorary Casket Bearers were Dennis Wiedenman, Karl Sander, and Kevin Sander. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements.

Beverly Ann Sander, the daughter of Octave L. Brown and Emma Bjergum Brown, was born August 8, 1934, at Caledonia, Minnesota. She passed away Sunday, January 6, 2002, in the Good Samaritan Center at Waukon, Iowa. She had reached the age of 67 years, four months, and 28 days.

She was baptized August 28, 1934 by the Reverend Lee and confirmed March 21, 1948 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville by the Reverend Frederick R. Ludwig. Beverly was graduated from Postville high school in 1952. She attended classes in the Basic Nurse's Aid Course in 1978 at the Northeast Iowa Community College at Calmar, Iowa.

On November 20, 1952, Beverly was married to William August Eldo Sander. To this union three children were born. They farmed in the area for many years. They were later divorced.

Beverly was employed as a Nursing Assistant at Rochester Methodist Hospital from 1980-1985, then moved to Jacksonville, Florida where she worked as a Telecommunicator. She returned to Minneapolis in 1985 and was employed as a Home Care Provider. Since 1995 she had been employed by the Mount Olivet Home as a Recreational Therapist Assistant and the Fairview Home Care as a Home Health Aide, both in Minneapolis.

Beverly loved music and pursued studies in voice and performance at the MacPhail Center of the Arts, as well as in music therapy related to healing. She was a member of the Mindekirken Adult Choir. She was also involved in volunteer work, including the Closed Head Injury Support Group, the Minnesota Museum of Art, Landmark Center in St. Paul, Orchestra Hall, Minneapolis, Sons of Norway, and Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Association.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her former husband, Willard, who died in 1992, a sister, Virginia Janett, and a brother-in-law, Cloy Schultz, Jr.

Surviving are her children, Lynn Sander of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Marcee Sander of Coralville, Iowa, and Dan Sander and his wife, Lynette of McGregor, Iowa; a grandson, Clinton Sander, and three sisters, Lorraine Schultz of Postville, Iowa, Janice and her husband, Tom Schultz of Watertown, New York, and Sharon and her husband, Tony Kainauskas of Fairfield, Iowa, a brother-in-law, Robert Janett of Denison, Iowa, and her special friend, Leonard Ambrose of LaCrosse, Wisconsin.

Beverly was a member of the Zumbro Lutheran Church in Rochester, Minnesota.
