Kenneth C. Brooks, 91, of Waukon, died Wednesday, November 24, 1999 at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, IA following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 27 at 1:00pm St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Waukon with Rev. Steve Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lansing, IA. Friends may call from 11:00am until 1:00pm
Saturday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Waukon. Martin Funeral Home of Waukon is handling arrangements.

Kenneth Charles Brooks was born March 27, 1908 in Volney, IA, the son of John and Carrie (Stall)
Brooks. He was baptized and confirmed at Forest Mills United Methodist Church and attended school in Forest Mills and Volney areas. On October 31, 1932 he married Colene Wendel at Galena, IL. Kenneth worked for a time on several area farms. For many years he was the assistant manager for the Eclipse Lumber Co. and a clerk at the Coast to Coast store, both in Waukon. He also spent time working as a carpenter. Kenneth was an active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Waukon. He enjoyed the outdoors and liked to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed reading, gardening and making woodcrafts. Family times together were especially important to him.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Colene, his son Wendel, 3 brothers, Myron, William and Allen Brooks and an infant sister, Stella. Survivors include 2 daughters, Shirley & husband Neal Palmer of Waterville, IA and Janet & husband Darrel Koozer of Harpers Ferry, IA, a daughter-in-law, Darlene Brooks of New Prague, MN, a sister, Jessie Ralston of Oregon, a sister-in-law, Mildred Brooks of Waukon, 17 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Honorary casketbearers were Debra Harmoning, Terri Palmer, Kathy Benda, Sandy Valentine, Kim Thomas, Kristine Piedot, Karen Sage, Ann Olson, Nancy Matychuk and Carrie Brooks. Casket bearers were Kenneth and David Palmer, Darren and Kenneth Koozer and Kenneth, Eric and John Brooks.
