Elsie L. Burrichter, 100, of Eitzen, and formerly of New Albin, lowa, died Wednesday, November 17, 2004, at Tweeten Health Services, Spring Grove.
She was born October 28, 1904, in rural Wheatland, lowa, to Charles and Clara (Beckmann) Dickel. Elsie attended schools in and graduated from high school in Wheatland, lowa, before attending the Brown Business School in Davenport, lowa. She then worked at the Calmus Bank in Calmus, lowa.
On June 26, 1930, Elsie married Rev. Emil Burrichter at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Wheatland, lowa. She, along with her husband, served churches in Ohio, Indiana, and lowa, including St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in New Albin, lowa from 1954 through 1963.
In 1967 they retired and moved back to Wheatland, lowa. On July 17, 1985, Emil preceded Elsie in death. Elsie continued to live in Wheatland until 1999 when she moved to Oskaloosa, lowa, and in 2001 she moved to Eitzen, Minnesota.
Survivors include two daughters, Lorene Burrichter of Eitzen and Rev. Lavon (Rev. Robert) Bayler of Elgin, IL; one daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Burrichter of Eitzen; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Hilda Dickel of Wheatland, lowa, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Elsie is preceded in death by her son, Bud Burrichter; a great-grandson, Dustin Burrichter; and a brother, Melvin Dickel.
Funeral services were Saturday, November 20, 2004, at 1:00 P.M. from St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Wheatland, lowa. Rev. Laird Keever officiated. Burial was in the Church Cemetery. Friends called at Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home in Caledonia on Friday and at the church on Saturday from noon until the time of service.
