Grace M. Wenig, 90, of Waukon, IA, died Monday, March 3, 2003, of an apparent heart attack while driving near Dorchester, IA. She was born on March, 17, 1912 in rural Dorchester, the daughter of Jason C. and Margaret E. (Amelon) Bulman. She was baptized and confirmed at Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church and attended the rural English Bench School and Waukon High School. On June 12, 1929 she married Edwin Henry Wenig in Waukon.
In addition to being a homemaker, Grace worked for 22 years at Mansfield Industries, first in Quandahl, then later in Spring Grove when the factory moved. She also worked at a supper club in Dorchester for eight years and for the Lansing Company for a year. She spent her entire life in and around Dorchester until moving to Waukon in 1985.
Grace was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Waukon and its Ladies Circle. Prior to its closing, she was active at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Dorchester and its Ruth Circle. Grace liked to crochet and made many doilies and baby sweaters for friends and church events. She also enjoyed playing cards, raising African violets and visiting with friends.
Survivors include a son, Leland (Jean) Wenig, Berlin, WI, formerly of Caledonia; and a granddaughter, Debra (Tom) Pesch, Franklin, WI; and two great-granddaughters.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Howard and Gene Bulman; two sisters, Carrie Martin and Leona Wenig; and a half-brother, Loren Schiff.
Services will be held Thursday, March 6, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Waukon with Rev. Steve Campbell officiating. Burial will be in the Dorchester Methodist Cemetery. Friends may greet family from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon is handling the arrangements.

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 6 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Waukon, with Rev. Steve Campbell officiating. Burial was in the Dorchester Methodist Cemetery. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon assisted with arrangements.
