Ileen Wedo

Ileen Wedo, age 67, of Decorah, died Tuesday, October 31, 2006 at the Gundersen Lutheran Hospital, in LaCrosse, WI, following a sudden illness.

Ileen Mavis (Moen) Wedo was born September 21, 1939, the daughter of Carl O. and Marian (Dahlen) Moen in Waukon. Ileen attended the Pagan Country School and graduated from Waukon High School in 1957. She worked at the Postville Dental Clinic.

Ileen married Louis Wedo June 20, 1959 at the Glenwood Lutheran Church. After they were married she continued to work at the Dental Clinic in Postville, until they moved to Decorah in 1963. Ileen was then the receptionist for the Decorah Veterinary Clinic for twenty-eight years.

After moving to Dyersville, she worked at Dr. Cusick's Vet Clinic for six years. They returned to Decorah and Ileen worked at Kwik Star, until her health forced her to retire. Ileen especially enjoyed her grandchildren, teaching them to play cards, one of her favorite pastimes. She was a life-long and an active member of the Glenwood Lutheran Church, where she served as Treasurer, and was a member of the VFW Woman's Auxiliary.

Ileen's survivors include her husband, Louis Wedo, Decorah, one daughter, Juanita (Mike) Malanaphy, Decorah; one son, Scott (Marjorie) Wedo, Decorah; six grandchildren, Ryan Wedo, Brian Malanaphy, Aaron (Amber) Wedo, Jamie Malanaphy, Austin Wedo and Carly Malanaphy; and one great grandson, Braydon Wedo. She is also survived by three sisters, Deloris "Dodie" (Edward) Vlasek, Cedar Rapids, Carol Ann (Gary) Bahr, Waukon, and Darlene (Gordon, Jr.) Kaesar, Waukon; three sisters-in-law, Bernice Barnes, Postville, Sally Comreid, Cedar Rapids and Wanda Moen, Cedar Rapids; two brothers-in-law, LaVern C. Wedo and Robert (Audrey) Wedo, both of Postville, and many nieces and nephews.

Ileen was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Harlan and James Moen.
