Walter Middendorf Sr., 82, of New Albin, died Tuesday, June 13, in a La Crosse hospital.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in St. Peter's United Church of Christ with Rev. Clyde Lee officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter's Memorial Cemetery.

Friends may call at Potter-­Haugen Funeral Home in Caledonia Thursday afternoon and evening and at the church Friday from 1 to 2 p.m.

He was born to Mr. and Mrs. Berhardt Middendorf March 20, 1890 in Houston County and married Ida Roeber Oct. 29, 1919. The couple farmed in the New Albin area until retirement, then moved into New Albin.

He was a member of the New Albin Veterans of Foreign Wars post.

He is survived by one son, Walter Jr. of Caledonia; two daughters. Mrs. Gladys Richards and Mrs. Cleon Sires of New Albin; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three brothers. Frank of Lansing, Edward and Elmer of Caledonia; and two sisters, Mrs. Ella Muenkel of Caledonia and Alvina Roeber of New Albin.
