Funeral Services for George Colsch
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 12, at 1:30 p.m. from First Presbyterian church in Waukon for George John Colsch, 81, of Waukon, who died Wednesday, May 9 at his home.
The Rev. William Tjaden officiated and burial was in the New Albin cemetery. Elmer Colsch, Jerold Colsch, Lester Pratt, Richard Svebkken, Gene Svebakken and Leland Lubka were pallbearers. Martin funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Colsch was born Aug. 1, 1891 in New Albin and was a son of Nick and Louise Teff Colsch. He attended the New Albin Schools. April 7, 1915 he married Anna Neumann in Freeburg, Minn. She survives with two sons, Lawrence of Eastman, Wis., and Charles of Torrance, Calif., and four daughters, Mrs. Urban (Margaret) Pratt of Cathedral City, Calif., Mrs. Roy (Esther) Svebakken of Decorah, Mrs. William (Mabel) Haller of West Union and Mrs. Merle (Marie) Lubka of Waukon. Two sisters, Mrs. Josie Gerkey of Waukon and Mrs. Martha Erickson of Bremerton, Wash., and a brother Charles Colsch of New Albin, 18 grandchildren and 18 great- grandchildren also survive.
A daughter Laura, a son Elmer, two brothers, Nick and Leo, two sisters, Julia and Margaret, and a grand-daughter Sharon Svebakken preceded him in death.
Mr. Colsch was employed as a county road worker before his retirementTranscribed by Diana Henry Diedrich
