Mrs. A. McMartin Passes While Visiting Kin Here

Mrs. Amos McMartin of Inglewood, Calif., who had come here with her husband and a daughter two months ago for a visit in the home of her sister, Mrs. E.W. Green, and with old time friends, passed away at the Green home northwest of Postville on last Wednesday following a brief illness.

Funeral services were conducted on Sunday afternoon at the Schutte Funeral Home in this city, with the Rev. L.H. Newhouse, pastor of the Community Presbyterian church, officiating. Interment will be made in Inglewood, Calif., to where the remains are being shipped.

As Rena Bell Bollman she was born October 1, 1868, near Castalia, the daughter of M.A. and Nancy Harris Bollman, pioneer residents of this community. She was married to Amos McMartin on September 27, 1888, and the couple celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary a few days before her passing. The couple had seven children born to them.

Besides her husband Mrs. McMartin is survived by two sons, Leonard McMartin of Bismark, No. Dak., and Corporal B.E. McMartin of Fort Warren, Wyoming; four daughters, Mrs. Lita McNeil of Hinsdale, Ill., who was visiting here with her parents at the time of her mother's passing, Mrs. Esther Stoutenberg of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Vera McMillan of Eatonville, Wash., and Mrs. Myrel Miller of Barberton, Ohio. One daughter, Mrs. Gladdys Pettygrove, passed away some time ago. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren and the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. E.W. Green, Mrs. B. Post, Willard, Fenton, Parker, Talcott, Farrell, Vives and Oberton Bollman.

Mrs. McMartin's childhood and the first years of her married life were spent in Iowa. The family moved to North Dakota first and it was there that their children were reared. The last 15 years were spent in California.

Mr. McMartin and daughter, Mrs. McNeil, accompanied the remains to California Monday night.
