Ronald Francis Haas, Gold River, Calif., died at the University Medical Center in Sacramento on April 14, 2002. Ronald was born in Waukon on July 17, 1923, the son of William L. and Emma (Miller) Haas. He graduated from Waukon High School and Junior College. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946, assigned to the 634th Ordinance Ammunition Company stationed in New Guinea and the Philippines, and later served in the Iowa National Guard. He attended the University of Iowa, graduating in 1950 with a degree in pharmacy. In 1950, he married Doris Ann Franson of Red Oak, Iowa. His employment spanned a 35-year career with Osco Drug, Inc., first as pharmacist and then as District Manager. Following retirement, he moved from Bismarck, N.D., to Gold River, Calif.
Ronald was a member of the Elks, the American Legion, and the VFW. He was also past-president of the Carmichael Kiwanis and past-president of the Kiwanis Family House. He is survived by wife, Doris Ann (Fran) Haas, Gold River; daughter Ann (Paul) Davis and grandchildren Catherine and Andrew Davis of Davis, Calif.; one sister, Jeanne McCarthy, Caledonia, Minn.; and two nephews, Michael and Bill, both in Minnesota. Visitation was held at Lind Brothers Mortuary in Carmichael, Calif., and interment was at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 12, at Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak.©Waukon Standard 2002
