Death of Peter Rachor

After being confined to him home for several months with illness the death of Peter Rachor, one of Lansing’s well known residents occurred at his home Tuesday.
Deceased was about 85 years of age and prior to making his home in Lansing he was engaged in farming in Lansing township the greater part of his life. He was an upright and honorable citizen and a faithful adherent of his church.
He was precede in death by his wife, who was Miss Carrie Haas and is survived by the following children: Frank of Baraboo, Wis.; Leo and Carl of Lansing township, Pete, Mrs. George Teff, Katie and Marie all of Lansing and also by a number of other relatives.
A solemn Requiem high mass was said Friday morning by Monsignor Haxmeier, assisted by Rev. Father Hayes of New Albin and McNamara of Lycurgus. Burial was made in Gethsemane.

The death of Peter Rachor, pioneer farmer of this locality, occurred Tuesday morning at the family home in Lansing, where the family has resided since they retired from farming.

The deceased, who was born in Germany, July 14, 1848, came to Allamakee County when a child and this locality has since been his home.

On May 5, 1877, he was married to Miss Louise Haas of Lycurgus, and to this union seven children were born: Leo, who resides on the family homestead; Frank, of Baraboo, Wis.; Mrs. George Teff, Kate, Marie and Peter, Jr., of Lansing, and Charles, of Wardner, Idaho; his wife having preceded him in death six years ago.

The funeral was held on Friday morning at 9 o'clock. Requiem High Mass was said by Msgr. Haxmeier, assisted by Fathers Hayes of New Albin and McNamara of Lycurgus. Interment was in Gethesemane cemetery.
