Obituary - Mary Rachor
Funeral services were held Thursday morning at Immaculate Conception Church, Lansing, for Miss Mary Rachor, 80, whose death occurred last Tuesday at St. Francis hospital, LaX, following a few weeks illness. She was born near Lansing on April 22, 1874, a daughter of Emma Haas and Valentine Rachor and her entire life was a resident of Lansing and vicinity. Following school time she remained at home and after the death of her parents operated the home farm until a couple of years ago when she retired to live in town.
Rt. Rev. Msgr. Henry Scharphoff was celebrant of the Solemn Requiem High Mass assisted by Father John B. McDonald of Waukon as deacon and Father John Costelloe of New Albin as sub-deacon. Interment in the family lot in Gethsemane Cemetery.
Immediate survivors include her brother, Peter, of Wilmont, S. D., her Sister, Sister M. Ferma, of St. Joseph’s Home, La Crosse; Mrs. Will Schafer and Miss Theresa Rachor, of Lansing. She was a devout Catholic, a kind and loving sister whose charitable acts and exemplary character will not soon be forgotten. She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League and the Rosary Society. Honorary pall bearers from those groups included Mrs. Gene Brennan, Mrs. Joe Mullen, Mrs. Mark Dunlevy, Mrs. Christine Zabolitzky, Mrs. Leo Mathis and Miss Emma Fritz. Casket bearers were Leo Krieger, Chris Berg, Frank Plagge, Herman Troendle, George Mettille and Howard Wendel.
Among the out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral services were Peter H. Rachor, son Joe and daughter Leona, S. Dak.; Mr. and Mrs. George Thom, Ashton; Mr. and Mrs. M. Peterson and Mrs. George Teff, Spring Green, Wis.; Kathrine Rachor, Dubuque; Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Rachor and Jean, Mr. and Mrs. R. Norpel, Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Kemp, Dubuque; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Lyons, Mrs. Ray Kibby, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Whalen, and Frank Teeling and family, Waukon; Mrs. Ed. Schwab and Mrs. Newcomb, Monona; Mrs. Hermie Finn, Mrs. Bena Brewer, Dubuque; Mrs. Grace McGahan, Mrs. Ed. Haas and Mrs. Ed Duggan of Waukon.Published 30 June 1954
