Daisy C. Livingood, 92, of Waukon, died Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at Northgate Care Center in Waukon. Funeral services were held Monday, May 3 at First Baptist Church in Waukon with Rev. Danny Volbrecht officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon. Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Daisy Clara Livingood was born June 6, 1911, in rural Allamakee County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Clarence and Martha (Entwisle) Thornton. She attended area rural schools. On October 1, 1929, Daisy married Lynn Mayhue Livingood in Waukon. They farmed together in rural Waukon until moving to town in 1962. Daisy also worked as a cook at Livingood Supper Club in Frankville and Makee Manor, was a salesclerk at Honn's Clothing Store, worked at the Waukon Greenhouse and Waukon Food Ranch, and sold Avon.

She was very active in her church, first at Forest Mills United Methodist and, since moving to Waukon, at First Baptist Church. She enjoyed baking bread and cookies and made ceramics, afghans, and embroidery pillow cases and towels. When someone would visit Daisy, she always sent them home with one of the many treasures that she made. She also enjoyed playing cards with her lady friends, going for rides in her car, and traveling to see her family and friends that lived away.

Survivors include three children, Eileen Hammon of Waukon, Les (JoAnn) Livingood of Lansing, and Lynnette (Ronald) Heilig of Colfax, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Dorleen and Lavanda Thornton; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lynn, who died in 1965; two grandchildren, Brian David Honn and Cathy Miller; six brothers, Ross, William, George, Henry, Vern, and Lloyd Thornton; and three sisters, Frances Harneck, Ruth Hinnman, and Margaret Thornton. Casketbearers are Kevin Honn, Chad Troendle, Joe Balk, and Dale, Edwin, and Todd Livingood
