Obit for Mrs John Warnholtz: Elizabeth Schultz was born at Grebs, Mecklenburg, Germany, on the 25th day of July 1856, and passed away at 7:15 on Thursday evening, January 10, 1935, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Nuehring, aged 78 years, 5 months, and 16 days. In the year 1863 she, with her parents came to this country and on March 27, 1874, she was married to John Warnholtz. This union was blessed with twelve children, two of whom with the husband preceded her in death. In 1874 she with her husband settled down to farming on one of the Larrabee farms near Clermont, where they lived for 24 years. Following this they bought a farm near Postville Junction which remained the family home for 36 years, and until advanced age and failing health compelled to leave the farm, since which time she has been making her home with her children. She leaves to mourn her loss the following children: Mrs. Bertha Woods of Mason City, Henry Warnholtz of Waukon, Emma Crandall of Louisville Wisc., Charley Warnholtz of Postville, Lena Harnack of Waukon, Edith Nuehring of Postville, Lizzie Schlee of Ossian, John Warnholtz of Sheffield, IA, Mamie Halvorson of Castalia, and Frieda Hanson of LaCross, Wisc. Also 28 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Lena Sander of Postville, two brothers, Joseph Schultz of Postville and Henry Schultz of Castalia. Her parents and four sisters preceded her in death. Mrs Warnholtz was a loving wife and dutiful mother, a kind neighbor and good friend, and made many friends along the pathway of her life who will learn of her passing with sorrow and will sympathize sincerely with those bereft. The funeral was held from St. Paul's Lutheran church in this city on Monday afternoon, Dr. R. B. Garten officiating. Interment was made in the Postville Cemetery. Note: Mrs. John Warnholtz lived in Fayette Co. over 40 yrs.
