Funeral services for Richard Dean Bork were held Monday, July 3, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville, Iowa. The Reverend Steve Brackett officiated. Joann Martins was the organist. Ronald Meyer was the soloist. Casket Bearers were: Larry Wilson, Michael Wilson, Randy Wilson, Tom Benson, Mark Looney, and Loren Looney. Burial was in the New Oregon Cemetery at Cresco. The Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements.

Richard Dean Bork was born December 13, 1962, at Cresco, Iowa, to Robert Gene Bork and Dorothy Marie (Creger) Looney. He passed away at the home of his mother at Postville, Iowa on June 30, 2006. He had reached the age of 43 years, 6 months, and 17 days.

He was baptized January 20, 1963 in Immanuel Lutheran Church at Cresco, Iowa and confirmed May 6, 1979 in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Postville by the Reverend Norris C. Swenson. Richard attended Postville Community Schools from 1968 to 1981. He served in the U. S. Navy for three years and sailed on the U. S. S. Carl Vinson on its maiden voyage around the world. Richard was employed at the Iowa Turkey Plant and Agri Processors in Postville. He then moved to Independence, Iowa and worked at the Tyson Plant in 1990. In 2004 he moved to West Union and worked for Dura. His interests included fishing, playing golf, and he was an avid Hawkeye, Raiders, and Cubs fan.

He is survived by a daughter, Taneasha of Calmar, IA, a son, Brandon of Janesville, IA his parents, Mike and Dorothy Looney and Bob and Phyllis Bork, all of Postville, three brothers, Jim of Cedar Rapids, IA, Brian, Winona, MN, and Lonnie, Iowa City, IA, three sisters, Heather (Mark) Suckow, Melissa (Travis) Blockhus, all of Cresco, IA and Jodi (Ryan) Koch, Clarence, IA, four nephews, Dylan, Michael, Cole, and Conner, five nieces, Emma, Grace, Paetyn, Hannah, and Rylee.
