Norma Curran

Norma Curran, age 77, of Lansing, Iowa, died Monday, April 3, 2006, at her home in Lansing. Funeral service were held Friday, April 7, at the Wexford Immaculate Conception Church, rural Lansing, with Rev. Louis Trzil officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Thornburg Hanson Funeral Home, Lansing, was in charge of arrangements.

Norma was born in rural Waukon, Iowa, October 13, 1928, to Theodore and Lavina (Knudtson) Fossum. She married James J. Curran April 7, 1948, in La Crosse, Wis.

Norma worked as a nurses aide at Thornton Manor for 20 years. She loved flower gardening and bowling, and was an excellent cook. Norma was very family oriented and loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by 12 children, Virginia (John) Glisczinski of Milwaukee, Wis., Tom Curran of Victor, Iowa, William Curran of Lansing, Kathleen (Steve) Protsman of Austin, Texas, Mary Ellen Curran of Waukesha, Wis., Jim (Debbie) Curran of Grafton, Wis., John Curran of Marengo, Iowa, Jane Curran of Austin, Texas, Dan Curran of Daytona Beach, Fla., Anne Curran and Margaret (Don) Richardson of Austin, Texas, and Chris (Andy) Nagus of Dallas, Texas; 29 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Thelma Holmes of La Crosse.

She was preceded in death by her husband James, who died in 1971; a brother, Harold Fossum; and four sisters, Gladys Bakke, Leona Vaughn, Agnes Krueger, and Eleanor Harkess.

Casketbearers were her grandsons: Bob Walker, Joe Glisczinski, Anthony Curran, Jim Curran, Jim Smerud, Tim Protsman, Scot Willger, Brian Willger, Alex Richardson, Nick Richardson, Matt Martinez, and Joe Nagus. Her granddaughters were honorary casketbearers.
