Marcella Geuder
Marcella C. Geuder, 96, of Waukon, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at Good Samaritan Center in Waukon. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 8, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waukon, with Rev. Lynn G. Groe officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Lansing, Iowa. Martin Funeral Home in Waukon was in charge of arrangements.
Marcella Carrol was born December 25, 1909, in Lansing, to Carl and Luella (Christianson) Halverson. She attended rural schools for three years and then Lansing Public School, graduating from Lansing High School in 1928. She then attended two years at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn., and graduated from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, with a teaching degree. Marcella enjoyed teaching and spent three years in rural schools in Allamakee County, ten years in the Guttenberg, Iowa, public schools, and 29 years in the Waukon public schools, for a total of 42 years of teaching.
Marcella Halverson and Ewald Geuder of Guttenberg, Iowa, were married November 25, 1943, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waukon. Both of them were very much interested in the work of their church and participated in Sunday School, choir, youth groups, and served on other activity boards.
Survivors include a niece, Carol (David) Fenstermann of Colesburg, Iowa; a cousin, Verna Samb of Waukon; and special families David (Rose) Olson of Minneapolis, Minn., and Rollie (Mary) Natvig of Princeton, Minn.; and several cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ewald, who died in 1986; and an infant brother.
Casketbearers were Carlton Christianson, David Olson, Rollie Natvig, David Fenstermann, George Ferring, and Russell Loven.
