Essie Campbell

Esther C. "Essie" Campbell, Waukon, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2006, at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 29, at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Waukon. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hanson Funeral Home, Waukon.

Esther C. "Essie" Campbell, 70, Waukon, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2006, at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, after a brief illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 29, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Waukon. Fr. Joseph Schneider and Msgr. Ed Lechtenberg officiated. Burial was in Mr. Olivet Cemetery. Hanson Funeral Home, Waukon, was in charge of arrangements.

Essie was born January 16, 1936, in Waukon to Leonard and Hazel (Riley) Campbell. She was baptized at St. Patrick's Catholic Church and attended St. Patrick's Catholic School. After graduation, she moved to Cedar Rapids and worked for Collins Radio until retirement.

She was an active member of VFW Post 4117, a volunteer at St. Patrick's School, and was very much involved with helping the needy. She will be sorely missed by family and friends.

Survivors include three brothers, James (Maxine) of Waukon, Paul (Rita) of Raymore, Mo., and Charles (Shari) of North Liberty; three sisters, Mary Goltz of Waukon, Margaret (Tony) Corneliuson of Hopkins, Minn., and Barbara (Emmett) Magner of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.

Essie was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Michael, Mark, John, William, and Fr. Thomas; two sisters, Hazel Burke and Kathryn Mohwinkle; a brother-in-law, Dale Goltz; and a sister-in-law, Helen Campbell.

Casketbearers were Gary Kolsrud, Tom Goltz, Michael Goltz, Bill Campbell, Donald Burke, Robert Campbell, Frank Goltz, and Gary Campbell.
