Severices held Sunday for Helen Hirth
Funeral services were held on March 19, 1978 at 1:30 p.m. for Helen Martha Hirth of rural Lansing from Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home. Burial was in OakHill Cemetery.

She pased away on Thursday, March 16, at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon following a five week stay at Thornton Manor.

Helen was the eldest daughter of William and Agnes Wiehe of Clinton, Iowa, where she was born on October 16, 1896.

After finishing school she taught school at De Witt, Londen and surrounding communities until her marriage to Frank William Hirth of Lansing on August 14, 1918. She made her home on the farm for 60 years.

Helen was a good, kind and loving wife and mother and was always thoughtful and willing to share her home with other members of the family.

She will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends and will never be forgotten, as her hard work and struggle to keep her farm and family together after the passing of her husband in 1932 will live on as a cherished memory.

Helen is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Andrew (Frances) Geinzer of rural Lansing and Mrs. Albert (Wilma) Pfiffner of Lansing; one brother, William E. Wiehe of West Chicago, Ill.; three grandchildren, Frank, David and Annette Pfiffner; and one grandson, Christopher Pfiffner.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Katherine, last December.

Pallbearers were Howard Leppert, Carleton Christiansen, Rodney Olson, Lawrence Weber, Burton Feuerhelm and Millard Wild.

The Rev. William J. Tjaden offficiated at the services. Arrangements were by the Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home.
