Conrad J. Roldson, 69, of Waukon, died Thursday, August 5, 2004 at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, WI, following a brief illness.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 10 at 11 am at Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church in Waterville, with Pastor Ken Kimball officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Conrad James Roldson was born July 7, 1935 on the rural Waterville farm of his parents, Oscar Bernard and Ruth Christine (Christianson) Roldson. He was baptized and confirmed at the Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church and graduated from Waterville High School in 1953.
September 28, 1956 he married Judy Shogren at the First Baptist Church in Waukon. They farmed together in the Lycurgus area until 1960 when they moved to his home farm in Waterville where they continued to farm until 1985. From 1983 until 1997 Conrad drove a dairy route truck for DeLaval.
Conrad and Judy moved to Waukon in 1990. Conrad was an active member of Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church, where he served as custodian and cemetery sexton for many years. He was also a member of the local barbershoppers and served on the Waterville rural Fire Board. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, attending community events, and visiting with his many friends. He loved spending time with his family and following their many activities and was known for his good sense of humor.
Survivors include his wife Judy of Waukon; four daughters, Cindy (Tom) Duvel and Rita (John) Erickson, both of Waukon, and Donna (Kenneth) Palmer and Barbara (Scott) Melcher, both of Harpers Ferry; a son, John (Janean) Roldson of Waterville; 11 grandchildren, Josh, Jennifer & Maria Erickson, Joshua, Levi & Jessie Palmer, Amanda, Patricia & Mary Melcher and Brandon & Kalie Jacobson; two great-grandchildren, Clayton & Dawson Palmer; and a sister, Ruby (Milo) Kloke of Waukon. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son Orrin, and a grandson, Michael Erickson. Casketbearers are Dennis and Wayne Kloke, Levi Palmer, Josh Erickson, Mike Gibbs, Blaine Wilder, Al Brink and Gary Kolsrud. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren served as honorary casketbearers.
