Michael J. Campbell, age 68, died Monday, September 15, 1986 at his home in Waukon, Iowa. Services were held Wednesday, September 17 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon with Father Ed Lechtenberg and Father Thomas Campbell officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery with military service at graveside. Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were John, James, Danny, and Paul Campbell, Mike Goltz, and Walter Larson.

Michael was born January 23, 1918 in Waukon, Iowa to Leonard and Hazel (Riley) Campbell. He attended Waukon High School and graduated from Waukon Junior College. He served in the Army during WWII. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church, American Legion, VFW, Elks, Knights of Columbus, and the Allamakee County Board. On November 4, 1945 he married Francis Larson in Chicago, Illinois. He had worked at B & B Clothing for several years, owned and operated the Model Cafe for five years. He was a national advertising manager for R.L. Polk and Company, in Detroit, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Mark Campbell and William Campbell.

Survivors include his wife, Francis; 2 sons, Richard Campbell of Kansas City, Kansas and Mark Campbell of Chicago, Illinois; 2 daughters, Mrs. William (Kathleen) Chamberlin of Chicago, Illinois and Mrs. Dennis (Laurie Ann) DeRosa of Boston, Massachusetts; 1 grandchildren, Jacqueline, three and a half months old; 5 brothers John Campbell and James Campbell, both of Waukon, Iowa, Danny Campbell of North Liberty, Iowa; Paul Campbell of Kansas City, Kansas, and Father Thomas Campbell of Columbus, Georgia; and 6 sisters, Mrs. Dale (Mary) Goltz and Mrs. Mike (Hazel) Burke, both of Waukon, Iowa, Mrs. Milton (Katherine Ann) Mohwinkle of Plano, Texas, Mrs. Emmett (Barbara) Magner of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Mrs. Carl (Margaret) Corneliuson of Hopkins, Minnesota, and Esther Campbell of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
