Richard John Troendle, age 66, of rural Lansing, Iowa died Monday May 12, 1986 at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday May 15 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Lansing, Iowa with Father Herbert Tegeler officiating. Burial was in Gethsemane cemetery with Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Tom Troendle, Jerry Troendle, Bob Troendle, Dave Troendle, Clete Mathis and Gene Sweeney. Honorary pallbearers were Jack Schwartzhoff, Claude Schafer, Garland Burroughs, Bill Troendle, Jr., Dan Mathis, Dick Troendle, Dan Troendle, Roger Troendle, and Richard Drake.

Richard was born November 14, 1919 to George and Frances (Rettinger) Troendle in Lansing, Iowa. He married Gladys Schulze on May 26, 1942. He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of the VFW Post 5981 in Lansing, Iowa and the Immaculate Conception Church.

He is survived by his wife, Gladys; a son Steven Troendle and a daughter, Michele Troendle, and 3 grandchildren; 5 brothers Silas Troendle of Waukon, Iowa, Harold Troendle, Carl Troendle, Cornelius Troendle, and Theodore Troendle of Lansing, Iowa; and 3 sisters, Louisa Sweeney and Anna Mathis of Waukon, Iowa and Theresa Drake of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
