Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Otis B. Swenson, age 70, of Waukon, Iowa died Wednesday July 23, 1986 at the VA Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. Services were held Saturday, July 26 at 11 a.m. at Old East Paint Creek Church, rural Waterville, Iowa with the Rev. Judd Larson officiating. Burial was in the Old East Paint Creek Church Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Donald Larsen, Dale Spiegler, Delbert Winters, Arden Hanson, Thomas Monroe, and Vernon Melcher.
Otis was born November 5, 1915 in Waterville, Iowa to Louis and Bertha (Sando) Swenson. He attended Waterville Schools, Decorah High School, and Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II and was a member of the American Legion and VFW.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene and Bernice, and a brother Bernard Swenson.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Swenson of Seattle, Washington and Mrs. Byron (Linda) Quandt of Toledo, Ohio; 3 sons, Norbert Swenson of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, Robert Swenson and Lou Swenson, both of Waukon, Iowa; 8 grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Stella Swenson of Port Richey, Florida, and Alma and Myrtle, both of Decorah, Iowa.
